ABOUT US
The soul of the Pickers is based on the idea of a few friends gathered in the kitchen, playing music shaped by the sounds of Appalachia: bluegrass, gospel, mountain music, and country. These traditions have in turn influenced other styles: jazz, classic rock, and folk. On any given day at a Pickers show you might hear a Bill Monroe tune followed by an Eagles song followed by some raw Chicago blues. But they will all be played with acoustic instrumentation: guitars, fiddles, banjos, mandolins, and such.As the Pickers have grown in size and popularity, we currently meet once a week in the Methodist Church to play and perform. Our membership varies but is typically about 30 musicians. The public is welcome to our performances; there is no admission fee but we do pass the hat.
